His consulting and research activities focus on macroeconomic and financial sector issues, particularly in the context of transitioning countries. After studying economics at the University of Potsdam and the Warwick Business School (UK), he worked as a research fellow at the University of Potsdam for several years.

At Berlin Economics, Pavel is the Deputy Head of the Energy and Climate Policy team and the Low Carbon Ukraine project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Pavel also acts as the energy and climate liaison for the German Economic Team’s projects in Armenia, Moldova and Uzbekistan. Pavel has worked across the private, public and third sectors and has worked on and led projects across the world in the sphere of energy, extractives and development. He has also served as an independent consultant for the World Bank, International Energy Agency, the European Commission, ASEAN and other institutions on various topics. He has a broad range of interests and expertise, including energy economics, international development, industrial policy and extractive sector economics and governance. Pavel holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge.

After Undergraduate studies in interdisciplinary Social Sciences at SciencesPo Paris and UC Berkeley, he completed a M.Sc. in Environmental Policy and Energy Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics. Rouven’s work benefits from his practical experience at the think tank Green Budget Germany, a consultancy for international political risk analysis, as well as the International Monetary Affairs division of the German central bank.

After studying economics at the University of Potsdam, Ilona Kaiser worked as an accountant and tax consultant for small and medium sized companies.

She holds Bachelor of Science in Economics with Finance from Westminster International University in Tashkent and Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School. Her professional experience includes working as a Research Assistant at the United Nations Development Programme and Hertie School, as well as a Senior Consultant at PwC Uzbekistan.

Her previous experience includes working at Walter Eucken Institute Freiburg, DIW Berlin, and DIW Econ. Henriette Weser is an alumna of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a double M.Sc. in Energy Economics and Business Administration from the University of Leipzig and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). His master’s thesis examined innovative climate finance mechanisms for the Global South. Prior to joining Berlin Economics, he gained experience in the energy sector, both in business development at Vattenfall and in strategy consulting at Ernst & Young and Thema Consulting.

He holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Management from Istanbul Bilgi University and the University of London (LSE), and an MA in Economics from Central European University. Prior to joining Berlin Economics, he gained professional experience in the climate, development, and energy sectors, including positions at the World Bank and SOCAR Turkey Energy AS

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Heidelberg University and a Master in Economics and Finance from Barcelona School of Economics. Prior to joining Berlin Economics, she gained professional experience as an Analyst at the International Policy Analysis division of the European Central Bank, where she focused on data analysis of commodity markets and global financial markets in preparation of the monetary policy meetings of the ECB Governing Council. Additionally, she served as a junior advisor at GIZ, advising the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on sustainable finance issues.

He completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from GIK Institute in Pakistan and worked in the automotive and education industry before coming to Berlin for his Master’s in Energy Engineering at TU Berlin. He is also a barista by passion.
